How to paint abstract?

I amvery good at making things look exactly like a picture (I like to do portraits) but I am not very creative. I want to be able to do a variety of things because I have already got down the skill of photorealism. Any ideas on how to paint things abstract or how to think outside the box?

possibly take a break from people type images and try trees or forest and parks, from a distance, and only use shading instead of lines for the whole image, don’t use colors right away, also try perspective designs and patterns to a horizon point,instead of actual objects, replace object with shapes of colour, tree~triangle, water ~french curve, mountain ~circle, people~8′s, pets~cubes, and so on, and even from those mix and match, have fun,☺
