What is the meaning of a photograph "Book of the Dead"?
I have also asked this question in Art / History … Ok, so I was helping a friend clean a family house when she tripped over a book of the dead. Many generations ago, people took photos of their loved ones when in the past, just before burial, and put together in a book (and seeing the photos, I understand why it was thought that the photos captured your soul – creepy). As for a little research, there seems to be many reasons for keeping a "Book of the Dead", by tradition, culture and superstition, but many of the reasons can vary greatly. Does anyone have a simple explanation, which is meaning?
Well, remember that they did not have the cameras that we have now (that people use to take pictures of almost anything). Only the important things are pictures of them. In addition, he had to lie still for a long time. I guess it was easier to do when you were dead. That reminds me of the movie "The Others". Find a Book of the Dead in him too. It was more sense for them than it does to us.
