Hip, “artsy” neighborhood in San Jose?

I’m relocating for a job and looking for a part of town that has a decent (indie) music scene if possible, art-friendly & safe for a young female professional. Even if I live near the rose garden and the Contemporary Art Museum, that would be cool. Other suggestions greatly appreciated!!!

or in the willow glen/downtown willow glen neighborhood .

iwould say downtown san jose , but it ‘s not the safest place .
